Rinoski named SAC Freshman of the Year; Spitz, Little, Clark and Prince also earn All-SAC honors

Wingate University freshman left-hander TJ Rinoski has been named the South Atlantic Conference baseball Freshman of the Year. Wingate sophomore outfielder Thomas Spitz and junior right-hander Olen Little earned first team All-SAC honors. Bulldog sophomores Josh Clark and Blake Prince joined Rinoski as All-SAC second team selections. Spitz also earned a spot on the league's Gold Glove Team. Read Full The Story

Jeff Gregory


Head Coach

Jeff Gregory ('00) will embark on his third year as head baseball coach in 2013. Gregory replaced Allen Osborne, who resigned to accept an assistant coaching position at the University of Georgia. In his first two seasons at Wingate, Gregory has compiled an overall record of 65-46, with a 31-23 mark in SAC play.

During his first two years as head coach at Wingate, Gregory has had the Bulldogs playing on championship Sunday in the Food Lion SAC Tournament both seasons. The team won the title in 2011, earning a bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Gregory led a potent offensive attack during the 2012 season. The Bulldogs led the nation with 95 homers, ranking second nationally in doubles, sixth in scoring, eighth in runs and 11th in hits.


Ryan Price


Assistant Coach

Ryan Price will begin his second season as assistant baseball coach in 2013 for the Bulldogs. Price joined the Bulldog family in August of 2012 after serving two years as the assistant head coach at Erskine College in Due West, S.C.

In his first year as an assiatant coach at Wingate, Price guided one of the most potent offenses in the nation. The Bulldogs led the nation with 95 homers, ranking second nationally in doubles, sixth in scoring, eighth in runs and 11th in hits. The offense was led by All-American outfielder Casey Allison, who led the nation in homers, while also ranking in the top five nationally in total bases and RBI.

In 2010, Price helped the Flying Fleet reach the NCAA Division II play-offs. At Erskine, Price was responsible for the development of catchers and hitters, while assisting in recruitment, field maintenance, game day administration and fund raising. He served as Erskine's first base coach, in addition to monitoring the team's defensive positioning and grounds crew work.


Eric Brown


Graduate Assistant

Eric Brown returns as the Wingate pitching coach for the 2013 season. Brown was the pitching coach at Wingate University during the 2011 season, helping the Bulldogs to the Food Lion SAC championship. In addition to his pitching coach responsibilities, Brown will coordinate Wingate's summer camps. Wingate's SAC Tournament title run was anchored by dominant pitching, led by tournament MVP Chris Nelson, who started and won two games during the four-day tournament. Fellow starter Justin Somers also earned All-SAC Tournament honors, along with relievers Cameron Falcon and Joshua Karr.

Brown pitched for the Bulldogs from 2003-05. The New York Mets drafted him in the 18th round of the 2005 draft with the 539th overall pick. During his three years as Bulldog, Brown put together solid career numbers. He posted 234 strikeouts in 37 appearances, posting a 13-13 overall record. During his Bulldog tenure, Brown started 34 of his 37 games. He went the distance 12 times, throwing 231 1/3 innings for the Bulldogs. Brown allowed 118 runs for a career ERA of 4.59.


Nick Roy


Director of Operations

Nick Roy enters his third season as Director of Operations and seventh season as a member of the program. The 2010 season was his first as Director of Baseball Operations. He spent the 2009 season as a student assistant under the watchful eyes of head coach Allen Osborne. Nick Roy joined the coaching staff after catching for the Bulldogs from 2005 through 2008.

Roy will be working with the pitchers, catchers and hitters. He is also in charge of the clubhouse, playing the music at the home baseball games, along with running the concession stand. Roy helps take care of videotaping and uploading instructional video for the players to view.

During the past five summers, Roy has worked baseball camps for the Bob Cressotti Baseball Camp in Enfield, Conn. In the summer of 2009, he worked the Nike Baseball Camp at Wingate University. Roy spent the fall of 2009 with the Dream Bat Bombers travel baseball team. He did his undergraduate internship at the Dream Bat Baseball Company, leading the firm's marketing efforts.
