Youth Developmental Camp

OPEN EVENT IN NEW WINDOW

Our knowledgeable and energetic staff will provide proper instruction and drills to enhance the skill level of each player. Campers will be instructed in the fundamentals including: hitting, pitching, infield, outfield, catching, base running, bunting, cut-offs and relays, rundowns and sliding. Games will be played to emphasize the techniques learned in daily instruction. The camp will use The Park on North Grounds on each day. Due to an extensive Stadium Expansion Project, Davenport Field will be unavailable during the camp.

 

Session Days and Times: Monday-Thursday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Players are grouped by age.

 

Each camper must bring his own baseball equipment. Players should bring a glove, bat, cleats/spikes, running shoes or turf shoes, hat, helmet and any other equipment they feel necessary to compete. Catchers do not need to bring gear. The University of Virginia Baseball Program and Atlantic Coast Camps will not be responsible for lost or stolen items.

 

Please check your email regularly as this is our primary way of communication for the camp. Any additional information that we need to convey as the camp draws closer will be passed on to you via the email address that you provide through the registration process.

 

Camp Check in: Camp check in will be Monday morning from 8:00-9:00 am at Davenport Field. An introduction will promptly follow.

 

Meals: Players will need to bring a bagged lunch each day. Water will be provided at the field each day.

 

Accommodations: This is a day camp only. No overnight option available. Our host hotel is the Hampton Inn, they can be contacted at 434-978-7888.

 

Refund Policy: After receipt of application, refunds will be given with credit toward a future camp if a player cancels due to accident or injury. The credit will be full with the exception of $100, which is needed to cover prepaid costs. Scheduling conflicts are not cause for refunds.

This 3 day overnight camp maximizes the player's time with the coaching staff, current and former UVa players. During the camp, players will receive 3 days of elite instruction provided by our coaching staff, current and former players and other college coaches. Players will have access to the lockers in our professional players clubhouse, receive two official UVa dri-fits, a game hat and a jersey. Games will be played during the camp to emphasize the techniques and instruction taught throughout the day. This is a great camp for players who want to advance their game with advanced teaching techniques in a small camp setting.

Helmets will be provided if you do not have your own. Every camper in attendance will be given two numbered UVa Baseball dri-fits to be worn during the camp along with a game jersey. However, all campers must bring their won baseball pants (players are encouraged to bring multiple pairs). Laundry services will be provided for the jersey's and camp shirts on Monday and Tuesday. The University of Virginia Baseball program and Atlantic Coast Camps will not be responsible for lost or stolen items.

The Developmental Baseball Camp offers both a overnight option and commuter option. Players will be instructed in all phases of the game of baseball. Games will be played each day with emphasis on the instruction taught during the camp. The 11-15 year old age group is a critical period in a players development. The skills developed during these years will serve as the foundation for future development in high school and beyond. Players will leave this camp with techniques to help develop their skills to the next level and begin the process of maximizing their potential.

Players that choose the overnight option will reside in air conditioned residence halls normally occupied by undergraduates and graduates of the University. All meals are provided for overnight campers and will be catered to the camp.

 

Commuter Option
Players that choose the commuter option are responsible for their own accommodations while attending the camp. Lunch and dinner will be provided during the camp and catered to the camp. The Become a Cavalier Baseball Camp is limited to 35 players, who will stay in undergraduate and graduate residence halls, given their own personalized locker in our players locker room, 2 authentic UVa Baseball dri-fits, a game hat and a game jersey. Players will be instructed at the highest level by the UVa coaching staff, current and former players. This camp will allow the player to get the full Cavalier Baseball experience. Players will be taken through a pro-style work out, offensive skill sessions, defensive skill sessions, base running sessions along with games played in front of our staff. Campers will be sent an evaluation by the UVa Coaching staff as well as video clips taken during the camp. For a player who is looking to have the most hands on instruction and evaluation by our staff, this camp provides the best opportunity, with great player to coach ratios and the most access to our teaching facilities.

Each camper must bring his own baseball equipment. Players should bring a glove, bat, cleats/spikes/, turf shoes, hat and any other equipment they feel necessary to compete. Helmets will be provided to players that do not have their own. Catchers must bring their own gear. Each camper in attendance will be given two numbered UVa Baseball dri-fits to be worn during the camp. However, all campers must bring their own baseball pants (recommend bringing multiple pairs). Jersey's and t-shirts will be laundered following the camp on Friday and Saturday nights. The University of Virginia and Atlantic Coast Camps will not be responsible for any lost or stolen items.

The High School Prospect Camp offers a overnight option and a commuter option. The camp allows players who want to play at the highest level of college baseball to be instructed, evaluated and showcase their abilities to the UVa coaching staff along with other college coaches in attendance. This camp continues to draw some of the best players across the country and has gained a great reputation for the structured instruction that is provided. Players will be taken through a pro-style work out, complete with on-field batting practice, a on-field defensive evaluation and instruction in baserunning. The camp also consist of detailed instruction at each position and in all aspects of the game. Players will compete in 2 games throughout the camp to showcase their abilities in front of all of the coaches in attendance. Games will consist of both player pitch and coach pitch. During coach pitch games, games are periodically stopped to teach the fundamentals of the game so that all players can learn from the performing act. These camps are filled by position, to ensure everyone gets equal playing time during the games. When slots are full for a position, registration will be closed for that particular position.

 

Our High School Prospect Camps are filled by position. Infielders will play 2B, SS and 3B in games. First baseman play just first base. Outfielders will play all three outfield positions. Pitchers do not hit in games to maximize at bats for position players. Catchers control the game behind the plate.

 

2nd Position/Game Option
For those players who play a second position or are interested in getting additional live-game at bats, we offer the option of playing on two different teams. By choosing this option you will be treated like two different campers during game day. Players will play in a total of 4 games (two games at each position/2 games vs live pitching and 2 games vs coach pitch). This option is also very popular among pitchers that also play another position and want to get live at bats during the games. If interested in this option, please make sure you provide the positions you would like to play (primary and secondary positions) during the registration process.

 

The 2-Game Option is an additional $199 to the camp fee.
