The Steel City Baseball Classic is one of the premier summer baseball tournaments in the Southeast. This event attracts travel organizations interested in showcasing their skills in front of college and professional scouts. Our goal is to provide teams with a high level of competition and the opportunity to play in state of the art venues surrounding beautiful Birmingham, Alabama. Come join us for some baseball in the “Steel City” of the South!

Description

The Steel City Baseball Classic is one the premier summer baseball tournaments is in the Southeast.  This event attracts travel organizations interested in showcasing their skills in front of college and professional scouts. Our goal is to provide teams with a high level of competition and the opportunity to play in state of art venues surrounding beautiful Birmingham, Alabama. Come join us for some baseball in the "Steel City" of the South!

 

This is for Team Registrants. $1,300.00 per team of 9 or more. 5 games have been scheduled throughout the 4 days

 

This event is for 17U teams ONLY, please do not register for this division unless your team is primarily made up of 17U participates.

 

Each team will have 5 games scheduled throughout 4 days.  All teams must be ready to play as early as 11:30 am ct on Thursday June 13th 2018 and as late as Sunday June 16th at 4:30pm.  All Fields listed under the "Venues" pages are confirmed for this event. The Venues page will be updated weekly and is subject to change.  The introductory rate of $1,300 is available for a limited time only.  Standard rate is $1,500.  The Steel City Baseball Classic is open to any and all entrants (limited only by number, age, grade level and/or gender).

 

RULES:  National High School Federation Baseball Rules will be enforced.  In the event that any items are not covered in the rules, the tournament director will make the fairest possible final ruling.

 

TIME LIMIT / RUN RULE:  2:00 hour time limit. Umpires are responsible for monitoring time.  If the game is a tie at the end of the 2-hour time limit, the game will be considered a tie and no additional innings will be played.  Run Rule: 10 runs after 3 innings. 8 runs after 5 innings.

 

CANCELLATION / WEATHER POLICY:  No refunds for cancellation.  As with most baseball games, weather could play a factor.  Our goal is to adhere to the original schedule.  The SCBC may shorten or cancel games because of inclement weather.  By registering for this event, you agree to this weather policy.

            0 games played 75% credit for next year

            1 game played 50% credit for next year

            2 games played No credit or refund

 

INSURANCE / WAIVER:  Each team is required to have insurance for their team and participates.  Proof of insurance is due May 1, 2018 prior to start of event.  A signed waiver is also required.  Please email proof of insurance and waiver to steelcitybaseballinfo@gmail.comDownload Waiver Form

 

EQUIPMENT: This is a Wooden Bat Event Only. No Composite.  Players and teams are responsible for all equipment necessary including Bats, Gloves, Helmets, Uniforms, etc.

 

BASEBALLS:  Each team is required to provide 3 new baseballs to the umpire at the beginning of each game. Each team is mutually responsible for providing baseballs for the entire duration of each game. No baseballs will be provided by the SCBC.

 

INFIELD/OUTFIED and CAGES:  There will be no infield/outfield prep at any site.  Some field may allow you to use cages.

 

HITTING LINEUP and PLAYER USE:  Line up may consist of 9, 10 or 11 batters. The lineup must stay with either 9, 10 or 11 batters (whichever is used) for the entire game. The 10th hitter, if used, will be designated as an EH on the lineup card and the 11th as the XH. You can also use a DH as provided for in the NHSF rules. You can make free defensive substitutions. You can use a courtesy runner for the pitcher and catcher per NHSF rules. 

 

SCORING:  Our goal is that each field has a working scoreboard.  The home team will be responsible for the official scorebook.

 

SPORTSMANSHIP: The tournament committee reserves the right to eject any person from the site for unruly or unsportsmanlike behavior. Any coach or player who is ejected for the second time during the tournament will be eliminated from participating for the remainder of the tournament.

 

ADMISSION:  Daily admission is $8.00.  Admission includes access to all Venues for the day.

 

PARKING:  Some Venues may require paid parking.  All individuals park at their own risk.
