Camp Description

 

This is an action camp for the serious player! The areas best coaches will be providing instruction in all phases of the game. Campers goals should be to learn the right way to play the game of Baseball. While improving their individual skills.

Players will be evaluated so they know what parts of the game they need to improve upon. Instruction will be given in both individual and group settings to help players in their step by step development.

We look forward to working with players of all levels from beginner through high school. We want your child to have fun while becoming a better baseball player. We have developed a strong curriculum with dual supervision to make a high quality program, that is most valuable to your child's baseball progress. We teach and promote good behavior and wholesome life styles and show players future coaches are looking for in a student-athlete.

General Information

 

Players will be grouped by age initially, then groups will be adjusted according to skill level and nature of the drill.

The clinics will be fully staffed by Seton Hall University Coaching Staff and several Top High School coaches from the area.

Players will need their own bat, helmet, glove, spikes, hat, sneakers for indoors. Catcher's must bring their own gear. A swimsuit and towel for optional swim break.

Tuition covers the entire cost of instruction, insurance and camp tee shirt. Tuition does not include travel, lodging or meals.

02:50 p.m. Daily Review

Facilities
All camps take place at beautiful Owen T. Carroll Field located in the heart of SHU campus. The field features a brand new Field Turf surface as well as state of the art lighting system. Our indoor facility includes the Regan Field House which allows us to continue to serve all our needs in case of inclement weather. 59,000 square feet of space can be utilized to cover every facet of the game including an Indoor batting cage area.

Please make it a habit to check your e-mail daily, this will eliminate any confusion and or miscommunication.

Directions

 

From the Garden State Parkway (North or South)
Take the Garden State Parkway to Exit 145. Follow directions for 280 West.

From New Jersey Turnpike
Take the New Jersey Turnpike to Exit 15W. Follow directions for 280 West.

From 78 East (Local)
Take Exit 49B (Maplewood). Stay to the right off the exit. Make the second right, which is a jug handle, and cross over Springfield Avenue onto Valley Street. Take this street approximately 3 miles to South Orange Avenue. Turn right and proceed 1 mile to the University. Enter through the Farinella Gate on the right.

From 280 West
Take Exit 11B, Day Street/Essex Avenue, Orange. Off-ramp becomes Freeway Drive West. Make a left at the second light onto South Day Street (Joyce Carnegie Place). Make a left at the next light onto Freeway Drive East. Turn right at the next light onto South Center Street. (South Center Street becomes Centre Street.). Follow it approximately 2 miles to the intersection of South Orange Avenue and Centre Street. Enter the University through the Farinella Gate across the intersection on South Orange Avenue.

Meals

 

Lunch can be purchased at the University Center Café or campers can bring their own.

Merchandise

 

Seton Hall University Baseball merchandise will be available to purchase while at camp.

About Mike Sheppard Sr.
The family owned and operated Hustler's Baseball School was founded in 1974. It is the oldest continuous Baseball School in the area.

Mike Sheppard Sr. paid his dues working youth baseball, through high school, American Legion baseball and for 31 seasons as head coach at Seton Hall University with 998 wins. Coach Sheppard is the winningest coach in Seton Hall University history and ranks him high in the all time collegiate records. He is a three-time Big East Coach of the Year, who led his team to 27 post season Big East and NCAA tournament appearances. Shep has tutored major leaguers Craig Biggio, Rick Cerone, Charlie Puleo, John Valentin, Mo Vaughn, John Morris, Jason Grilli, Matt Morris and Dan Morogiello and former Hustler's Baseball School and Seton Hall Prep alumnus: Eric Duncan, Rick Porcello and Joe Martinez to name a few. The key to Shep's success has been a fundamental approach to the game of baseball coupled with the Hustler's attitude.
