The best way to get to Reckling Park is to enter the Rice University campus via Entrance 8 at the intersection of University and Stockton Boulevards. Once on campus, there will be a road about 30 years from the entrance to your right next to the new Moody Center. Turn right down that road and it will take you in front of Reckling. Please follow that road until you reach an old tennis court located down the left-field line that has been converted into a parking lot. Camper pick-up and drop-off will take place in this parking lot, now called West Lot 6. Parking beyond drop-off and pick-up in this lot will not be allowed. You will be subject to ticketing/towing if you remain in this lot for the duration of camp. If you wish to stay to watch camp and need to park, you have several options. You may park in West Lot 2 and/or the Moody Lot for $1 per 15 minutes or $12 max per day. Please note with this option that you will have to pay each time you exit and re-enter this lot. There is additional parking for a flat rate of $1.00 in the Greenbriar Lot on the West Side of the football stadium. Several maps of campus which include the locations of Reckling Park and the aforementioned parking lots can be found at www.rice.edu/maps.shtml.

Description

The Elite Showcase is designed with the advanced player in mind.

The aim of this showcase is to give players between the ages of 13-15 the best possible instruction in every facet of the game as well as provide an opportunity to display their skills in front of the Rice Baseball Coaching staff. The pro-style showcase will begin with an evaluation period measuring velocities, run times, batting practice, etc. After this evaluation period, campers will compete in a game.

Early registration is encouraged due to limited enrollment.

Camp Philosophy: The continued success of the Rice Baseball Camps may be largely attributed to the staff's commitment to the individual player. Through limited enrollment, low player/teacher ratios are maintained ensuring each camper the quality instruction to maximize development. Every effort will be made to instill in each participant the muscle memory necessary to habituate correct form with drill work and close supervision. The camps are under the direction of Wayne Graham and the Rice baseball staff. Instructors may include current and former Owl players and area high school coaches.

Times: 9:00am-*5:00pm

* Exact end time to be determined depending on camp enrollment.

Reckling Park: The Rice Owls Baseball Camps will be conducted at Reckling Park, home of the 2003 NCAA World Series Champions. Since opening day in February of 2000, this state of the art facility has ranked as one of the top venues in college baseball. Amenities include spacious chairback seating with cupholders, locker rooms for umpires, home and visiting clubs, private luxury suites, a fully equipped weight room and indoor and outdoor batting cages.
