2012-13 will be Coach Shumate’s first year at the helm of the Hurricanes baseball team. Prior to LC, Keith spent 15 seasons as the head baseball coach at North Carolina A&T State University where he left his post with over 300 career wins. Under his direction, the Aggies made the conference championship game four out of his last seven years and picked up one regular season and one conference tournament title. Prior to NC A&T, Shumate spent three seasons coaching at Grimsley High School in Greensboro, NC.
As a student-athlete, Shumate attended Western Carolina University where he played baseball under legendary coach Jack Leggett. While at WCU he also earned his Bachelor of Science in Education with an emphasis on Spanish.
Brett joins the Hurricanes for the 2012 season after serving five years with UNC Charlotte baseball as a volunteer assistant coach. With Charlotte, Hall worked with the 49ers infielders and outfielders and coached third base.
Hall is a graduate of the University of Tennessee-Martin (2005) where he played four seasons as an infielder and pitcher with the Skyhawks.
Coach Holt makes a return to Louisburg College where he played two seasons before he was drafted and signed by the Chicago White Sox. After two seasons playing outfield in pro ball, Holt made the transition to the coaching ranks where he spent time both in the dugout and on the football sidelines.
