The camp will provide athletes with elite instruction from Gaucho offensive coach Jason Hawkins and other members of the UCSB baseball coaching staff. Areas of instruction will include: hitting technique, swing analysis, baserunning, offensive approaches, short game philosophy, and mental training. This camp is designed for players who want to take their offensive game to the next level.
Our mission is for each camper to experience how we teach, practice, and play the Gaucho Way. It also allows the coaching staff the opportunity to instruct and evaluate players in a competitive and challenging environment.

In 2013, under offensive coach Jason Hawkins, the Gauchos made their first NCAA Postseason appearance in 12 years with a trip to the Corvallis Regional. The Gauchos finished second in the Big West Conference as a team with a record of 17-10. The Gauchos offense was first in the Big West in stolen bases and second in runs scored and RBI's.
In the past two years the Gaucho offense has produced:
• 2 Freshman All-Americans
• 4 MLB Draft Selections
• 1 Big West Batting Champion
• Top 10 National Ranking in HBP
Since 2005, Coach Hawkins' offense has an average conference rating of:
• Batting Average - 3.5
• On Base Percentage - 3.3
• Hits - 3.3
• Runs Scored - 3.5
• RBI - 3.6
• Stolen Bases - 1.5
• Hit By Pitch - 2.9
In 2012, the Gauchos finished in the top-four of the Big West Conference in every major offensive category. Coach Hawkins' offense led the conference in stolen bases and recorded the second highest team batting average. Junior outfielder Brett Vertigan led the Big West in hitting, set the school record and tied the conference record for triples, and came in second to teammate Sophomore shortstop Brandon Trinkwon in on-base percentage. Trinkwon also tied Freshman All-American Greg Mahle for the fifth highest Big West batting average.
"In my opinion Jason Hawkins is on the cutting edge of college baseball. He prepares our hitters for what they need to do to be successful against the pitching in our conference and beyond. From having a plan, to being comfortable in pressure situations, he is very good at what he does. This is a great opportunity to learn from one of the best coaches in the country." - Andrew Checketts, UC Santa Barbara Head Baseball Coach
Video sales is the newest component of the Gaucho Baseball Academy. We take video of you performing during our camp and host it online (on a password protected site not viewable by anyone but you and those you send it to) for you to access with one click of a button. You have the ability to view and share the video with one click as many times as you want to with no additional cost.
There are two video packages available for purchase: skills and coach analysis. Your skills video is footage from camp of you performing a skill, (pitching, hitting, or defense) that you can view or send to other college coaches. Coach analysis video includes selected clips of your swing, defensive, or pitching footage put together with a coach analyzing it as if you were having a one-on-one session with a college coach. The coach will use slow motion, telestrations, and audio comments to break down your skill/mechanics while screen recording it all. Note: the coach analysis package includes the coach's audio; it is not a separate purchase.
Skills Video $50
Coach Analysis $75
Skills Video and Coach Analysis $105
You will receive whichever video package you purchase within 10 days of the completion of camp. Video must be purchased at time of camp registration.
Each camper must bring his own baseball equipment. Players should be properly equipped; a glove, hat, bat, cleats, running shoes, baseball pants, belt, and socks. Helmets will be provided.

What if I have to cancel a camp?
We do not offer refunds on cancelled campers, just a future camp credit if you decide to cancel, but we do have what is called "Cancellation Protection". We offer basic Cancellation Protection to allow participants some peace of mind in case plans change. This allows us to keep our prices low and provide the best service possible. Due at the time of registration, Cancellation Protection entitles you to a full refund of camp fees should you cancel your registration more than 14 days prior to the start of an overnight camp, and 7 days prior to the start of a day camp. If you cancel within 14 or 7 days of the start of your session, we will give you a camp credit for all money paid. The credit is valid for three years from camp date. Credit with insurance is transferable to family members or friends, and good toward a future camp.
