Come have fun and enjoy baseball with the Gauchos! The 2013 UCSB Gaucho Youth Summer Camp offers players the opportunity to receive instruction from members of the UCSB coaching staff and team.
Players will be separated according to age/skill level. Campers will go through a series of instructional drills and participate in games each day. The goal of camp is to increase youth interest in the game of baseball.
If early drop off or late pickup are needed, you must sign up when you register for the camp. If you are not using these services you are expected to drop the camper off between 8:30am and 9:00am and pick up at 3:00pm. There will be a sign in/out sheet for parents each day.
Early Drop Off: 7:30am - 9:00am ($15.00 per day)
Daycare: 3:00pm - 5:00pm ($20.00 per day)
UCSB Youth Camps offer an opportunity for players to receive valuable instruction on the fundamental skills of baseball. Our camp staff will focus on teaching efficient mechanics for throwing, hitting, fielding, base running and the mental aspects of the game.
Campers will be made aware of the characteristics that define successful baseball players. Organized games between campers will provide a competitive outlet after specific drills have been practiced. Contests built into drills capture the learner's attention, which results in attentive practice.
Drill progressions will be aimed towards recognizing and developing good habits in all aspects of the game. General courtesy, respect for teammates and opponents, and the importance of hard work will be taught to the campers through example by the Gaucho coaching staff. Drills, skill contests, and games make this a camp kids will remember.

Video sales is the newest component of the Gaucho Baseball Academy. We take video of you performing during our camp and host it online (on a password protected site not viewable by anyone but you and those you send it to) for you to access with one click of a button. You have the ability to view and share the video with one click as many times as you want to with no additional cost.
There are two video packages available for purchase: skills and coach analysis. Your skills video is footage from camp of you performing a skill, either pitching or hitting, that you can view or send to other college coaches. Coach analysis video includes selected clips of your swing or pitching footage put together with a coach analyzing it as if you were having a one-on-one session with a college coach. The coach will use slow motion, telestrations, and audio comments to break down your skill/mechanics while screen recording it all. Note: the coach analysis package includes the coach's audio; it is not a separate purchase.

Each camper must bring his own baseball equipment. Players should be properly equipped; a glove, hat, bat, cleats, running shoes, baseball pants, belt, and socks. Helmets and water will be provided.
Please check your email regularly as this is our primary way we communicate. Any additional information that we need to convey as the camp draws closer will be passed on to you via the e-mail address that you supplied when you signed up for camp. Please make it a habit to check your e-mail daily, this will eliminate any confusion and or miscommunication.
Parents are welcome to stay and watch the camp from the stands.
Overnight campers check into housing at 6:00pm on Sunday. Campers will stay at the Tropicana (
Tropicana Housing). The Tropicana is where a lot of our athletes live during the year and is located right next to the stadium. All meals will be provided, as well as linens. There is a pool on site at the Tropicana that campers will be able to use after camp with supervision. These will be covered by the cost of camp, but players may want to bring money for other items. Campers will pack up and bring their personal items with them to the field for camp on Friday. Please check email as camp approaches for more specifics on housing, such as directions.
Camp Waiver Information
All students must provide proof of insurance coverage for any injury or sickness while attending this session. A waiver form is available on line at the camp web site.

Parking is not free. If you are staying make sure you purchase a ticket thru one of the automated machines.

Airport Pick-up / Drop-off Information
All campers are responsible for their own transportation to/from Santa Barbara, CA.
What if I have to cancel a camp?
We do not offer refunds on cancelled campers, just a future camp credit if you decide to cancel, but we do have what is called "Cancellation Protection". We offer basic Cancellation Protection to allow participants some peace of mind in case plans change. This allows us to keep our prices low and provide the best service possible. Due at the time of registration, Cancellation Protection entitles you to a full refund of camp fees should you cancel your registration more than 14 days prior to the start of an overnight camp, and 7 days prior to the start of a day camp. If you cancel within 14 or 7 days of the start of your session, we will give you a camp credit for all money paid. The credit is valid for three years from camp date. Credit with insurance is transferable to family members or friends, and good toward a future camp.
