The 2013 UCSB Gaucho Summer Prospect Camp offers players the opportunity to receive quality instruction from members of the UCSB coaching staff, along with potential camp workers from Santa Barbara City College, Occidental, and Westmont.
The campers will be put onto teams that they stay with through the camp. This will allow coaches to have a closer relationship with the players and be able to provide better feedback and instruction throughout the camp.
Our prospect camps are not designed to be just a showcase; they are designed to be a practice. We expect the campers to come with a desire to learn, and we show up ready to teach, just like we do during one of our team practices. Our camp staff is hired to coach the campers, not just evaluate. We promote the idea of the campers taking some things they learn with them back to their high schools to integrate into their daily routines individually and as a team.
Day 1: Players will go through a pro style workout Friday evening. The workout includes defensive and offensive evaluations, as well as timed 60 yard dashes. During evaluations, campers will be split into groups for position specific defensive instruction.
Day 2: Players will receive position specific training with Gaucho Academy coaches in the morning. The afternoon is dedicated to a competitive scrimmage rotation, which includes two teams playing each other on the field, cage work, defensive skill work, and "chalk talks" about various baseball and college topics. Each "team" will have two coaches who will be with them on the field, in the cage, and other rotations. The coaches are there to coach the campers through in-game situations offensively and defensively as well as giving hitting or defensive instruction in the cages. Players who are "pitcher only" will receive pitching instruction during position training and also during the scrimmage as we have a coach dedicated to work with the "pitcher only" group. "Pitcher only" players will also be able to throw in games both days if they wish.
After camp on Saturday, we will attend a Santa Barbara Foresters game at 5:00pm. They play in the California Collegiate League, a college summer baseball league. The cost of attendance is included in the camp cost. Game attendance is not required. Open to overnight and day campers.
Day 3: Campers participate in offensive rotations in the morning. Rotations typically include on field hitting, bunting, baserunning, cage work, mental training, chalk talk, and more. In the afternoon we will go through scrimmage rotations similar to day 2.
Day Campers cost is $250, check in on Friday at 4:30pm at the field.
Overnight Campers cost is $425, check into housing at 3:00pm on Friday. Campers will stay at the Tropicana (Tropicana Housing). The Tropicana is where a lot of our athletes live during the year and is located right next to the stadium. All meals will be provided. Linens are not provided - campers should bring a pillow, towel, and either sheets or a sleeping bag. We will wash overnight campers' baseball clothes Friday and Saturday night for no charge. There is a pool on site at the Tropicana that campers will be able to use after camp. We will also attend a Foresters game or other activity in the evening. These will be covered by the cost of camp, but players may want to bring money for other items. Campers will pack up Sunday morning and bring their personal items with them to the field on Sunday. Please check email as camp approaches for more specifics on housing, such as directions.

Video sales is the newest component of the Gaucho Baseball Academy. We take video of you performing during our camp and host it online (on a password protected site not viewable by anyone but you and those you send it to) for you to access with one click of a button. You have the ability to view and share the video with one click as many times as you want to with no additional cost.
There are two video packages available for purchase: skills and coach analysis. Your skills video is footage from camp of you performing a skill, either pitching or hitting, that you can view or send to other college coaches. Coach analysis video includes selected clips of your swing or pitching footage put together with a coach analyzing it as if you were having a one-on-one session with a college coach. The coach will use slow motion, telestrations, and audio comments to break down your skill/mechanics while screen recording it all. Note: the coach analysis package includes the coach's audio; it is not a separate purchase.
Skills Video $50
Coach Analysis $75
Skills Video and Coach Analysis $105
You will receive whichever video package you purchase within 10 days of the completion of camp. Video must be purchased at time of camp registration.

What if I have to cancel a camp?
We do not offer refunds on cancelled campers, just a future camp credit if you decide to cancel, but we do have what is called "Cancellation Protection". We offer basic Cancellation Protection to allow participants some peace of mind in case plans change. This allows us to keep our prices low and provide the best service possible. Due at the time of registration, Cancellation Protection entitles you to a full refund of camp fees should you cancel your registration more than 14 days prior to the start of an overnight camp, and 7 days prior to the start of a day camp. If you cancel within 14 or 7 days of the start of your session, we will give you a camp credit for all money paid. The credit is valid for three years from camp date. Credit with insurance is transferable to family members or friends, and good toward a future camp.
