Dirtbags Baseball Camps @ Long Beach State University

The Dirtbag Baseball Camps at Long Beach State University provide some of the finest college baseball camps, high school baseball camps and instructional skills clinics in Southern California. Whether its a weeklong summer camp, winter holiday camp or fall ball clinic they do it all.

Our baseball camps are staffed by the Long Beach State coaches and players. We pride ourselves in playing the game the right way. The “Dirtbags” way. It is this philosophy and tradition that has led Long Beach State to be one of the top college baseball programs in the country.” Dirtbag Baseball Camps are open to any and all players but spaces are limited.

Dirtbags baseball camps offer fundamentals in throwing, hitting, bunting, fielding mechanics, outfield play, base-running and pitching. Afternoon scrimmages will help each participant develop their new skills and elevate their level of play. Camp space will be limited to help the coach to camper ratio. The staff prides itself in hands on instruction and making each camper enjoy the “Dirtbag experience.”

Description

Long Beach State Coaches are hosting a Dirtbag Bootcamp to help get your body ready for 2018 Season.  The Long Beach State Baseball Program prides itself on playing "Dirtbag" baseball. This gritty style has resulted in a MLB leading 14 former Dirtbags having having played in the MLB this season, including six in the postseason, and two in the MLB World Series. It is this philosophy and tradition that has helped Long Beach State become one of the top college baseball programs in the nation and will continues its success under head coach, Troy Buckley.

- Stretching routines
- Strength Training 
- Agility Training 
- Speed Training 
- Proper throwing program to get your arm in shape for season

 

Cost: $125.00 for all 4 sessions

 

Dates/Times: Thursdays from 6:30pm-8:00pm

Equipment 
Each player must bring his own baseball equipment. Players should bring a glove, bat, cleats/spikes, running shoes or turf shoes, hat, and any other equipment they feel necessary to compete. Catchers must bring their own gear. Helmets will be provided.

Waiver Information

The Dirtbags baseball camps are designed to teach the different components of catching; mechanical, mental, and technical.  Based on the ability of the camper, the session will be adjusted to teach at the level and aptitude of each participant. Space for each session is limited to ensure interaction with coaches and to give the coaches the ability to group campers in each session with like ability catchers.  Participants will learn the same foundation work and techniques current and former LBSU Dirtbags learned when developing their pitching and catching techniques.

 

Cost: $125 for all 4 Sessions

Consists of 4 days of 1-hour catching instruction.

 

Dates/Times: Tuesdays from 6:00pm-7:00pm
January 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd

 

Note: Make ups can only be done if other sessions have space. We will not guarantee make ups will be available.

The goal of the program is for the athletes to have a better understanding of their arm and its needs for strength and maintenance, and to be familiar with comprehensive arm care routine and recovery techniques they can utilize as they move into their competitive seasons.

Each week will be 90 minutes. Each day will begin with a discussion portion to introduce new material and to review any questions that came up since the previous week. The new material and exercises will take roughly 60 minutes each day, with an additional 20-30 minutes after for additional practice with new and learned exercises.

 

Instructors

 

Jessica Jewell

Jessica has the athletic trainer for the Long Beach State Dirtbags for the past 4 seasons. She has worked baseball at the collegiate and professional levels for the last 16 years, including 3 years as an intern with the Texas Rangers organization and 5 seasons as a head athletic trainer in the Atlantic League. She is a certified athletic trainer, as well as a certified strength and conditioning specialist and performance enhancement specialist.

 

Andrew Rohrbach

Andrew pitched for the Long Beach State Dirtbags during the 2014 season as the Friday night starter.   He posted a 7-2 record on the mound with a 2.05 ERA while leading the pitching staff with 69 strikeouts. He pitched 109.2 innings in his first full season as a pitcher, with two complete game shutouts and finished with an 8.1 inning victory at the Florida Regional against North Carolina. He was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 9th round.
