Chicago White Sox outfielder Carlos Quentin ....
stopped by the Washington Baseball School's Advanced camp in July to surprise the campers and deliver a great motivational talk on his journey from the Pac-10, the minor leagues and now to major league baseball. Former Husky Pitcher Tim Lincecum...
Was the first Husky ever taken in the first round of the Major League draft when selected by San Francisco with the 10th pick in 2006. Tim finished his UW career as the Huskies single-season record holder for wins (12) and strikeouts (199). He also holds career records for wins (30), starts (51), innings (342.0), walks (216) and strikeouts (491), and owns the Pac-10 record for career strikeouts (491). Tim is also the only former Husky pitcher to win not just one, but two Cy Young Awards in 2008, and 2009 as a pitcher for the San Francisco Giants. |
What do I wear?Baseball appropriate attire is highly recommended (baseball pants, t-shirts, sweatshirts, etc.). Be aware that our weather changes rapidly, so prepare for sun (sunscreen) and rain. A rubber sole shoe is also recommended as we hit on astroturf and use field turf in the Dempsey. Where is the camp? The summer camps are at Husky Ballpark on the UW campus near the football stadium. The winter camps are held at the Dempsey Indoor Practice Facility at the north east corner of Husky Stadium. Can I watch the camp?Parents are highly encouraged to watch the session. By learning the material, they can assist their child in reinforcing what was taught. Thus, you are more than welcome to watch. Coaches will be happy to answer your questions after the drill session is over or after camp should some come up. Of course, your player is encouraged to ask questions at the time of the drill for immediate assistance. Where should I park?Parking is strictly enforced on campus. The E1 lot charges a fee for all day parking. The E8 lot and other E lots are restricted parking areas. Do not park in these areas!!! Parking in restricted areas runs a high risk of ticketing. Please Mark Your EquipmentMake sure you mark all of you equipment with your name and phone number with a permanent marker. Washington Baseball School is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Many players use similar gloves, bats, etc and it is hard to distinguish them if they are not properly marked. |
