Toledo Excels in Classroom During 2008 Fall Semester; Twenty Student-Athletes Garnered a 3.0 GPA or Better, as Team Carried Combined 3.045 GPA

Since Head Coach Cory Mee's arrival prior to the 2004 season, the Rockets' academic performance has shown consistent excellence. The baseball program has posted team grade-point averages above 3.0 in nine of the last 11 semesters. This past fall, Toledo had 20 student-athletes garner a 3.0 or better, as the team carried a combined 3.045 GPA.

The baseball program's performance was a part of the athletic department's successful semester which saw UT student-athletes earn a collective grade-point average of 3.013.

Additionally, 11 of UT's 15 sport programs had team GPAs of 3.0 or above (UT has 16 varsity sports but women's indoor and outdoor track count as one sport for academic purposes). Women's tennis had the highest team GPA (3.669). Women's soccer (3.533), women's cross country (3.530) and softball (3.513) all had team GPAs above 3.50.

Individually, 24 student-athletes earned perfect 4.0 GPAs in the fall, while 109 individuals (nearly 31 percent) earned a spot on the Dean's List by garnering at least a 3.50 GPA.

The Toledo baseball team opens its 2009 season on Friday-Sunday, Feb. 20-22 when it travels to Bowling Green, KY for a four-game series at Western Kentucky.

UT Camp FAQs

Q. Do players from our camps get recruited to play at Toledo?

A. Yes. Numerous players have first been "discovered" at our prospect camp, and we hope that this year is no different. By allowing players to play baseball at a competitive level on our campus, our staff is allowed the opportunity to concentrate and offer feedback to players instantly.

Q. Can you hold my place in camp until I have a chance to send in my application?

A. No. Per NCAA rules, we are not allowed to hold any spaces for campers. All camps are filled on a first come - first serve basis. Your application and deposit must be received by the camp director for you to be accepted and registered into the camp.
