Winter Skills Sharpening Camp I (Ages: 6-12)

Camp Description


Cal Baseball coaching staff is pleased to offer a 2-day, 3-part Winter Skills Sharpening Camp.

The day will be split into three segments: hitting, defense and pitching; you may select one, two, or all three of the skill sessions to attend. Each session will be two hours in length and include individualized instruction from the Cal Baseball Coaching staff.

General Information


For each individual session, the fee is $100, or, For registration in all three sessions, a reduced fee of $250 is offered; the registration fees cover BOTH days of the camp.

Hitting segment ($100)- 9:00am-11:00am
Will focus on all aspects of hitting. The coaches will take the hitter from the basic of stance and stride to contact and follow through. Participants will be divided into groups and taken through a circuit of instruction, drills, and batting practice. Coaches will introduce and teach drills and the proper use of training aids.

Defense segment ($100)- 11:30am-1:30pm
Will focus on fundamental defensive outfield, infield and catching skills. Participants will learn footwork mechanics at each position. Throwing accuracy will be a huge emphasis along with the mental side of baseball.

Pitching segment ($100)- 2:00pm-4:00pm
The coaches will take the pitcher from the basics of the delivery to the follow through. Proper mechanics and warm up will be stressed. Aspects of pitching that will be covered include windup, stretch position, balance point, follow through, development of pitches, pickoffs, arm care and more.

Each camper must bring their own baseball equipment. Glove, bat, cleats, running or turf shoes, cap, helmet, and any other equipment necessary.

Follow Oxford Street until Frank Schlessinger Way, take a right. Evans Field is located approximately one block up on the right.

Parking Information


Metered parking is available near Hellman Stadium on Oxford Street. Please note that many of these meters have a one-hour limit. However, other meters on the surrounding streets such as Dana, Ellsworth, Fulton, Durant, Bancroft and Channing may allow up to two-hour parking. After 5 pm on weekdays, you can purchase a campus parking ticket for $5 at the Schlessinger Way ticket dispenser that enables you to park on campus. On weekends, you can also buy a parking ticket for $5 at the Schlessinger Way ticket dispenser that allows you to park on campus for the day.



This is not an "overnight" camp. Players traveling from out of town will be responsible for securing their own hotel accommodations.

Miscellaneous Information


What if I have to cancel a camp?
We do not offer refunds on cancelled campers, just a future camp credit if you decide to cancel, but we do have what is called "Cancellation Protection". We offer basic Cancellation Protection to allow participants some peace of mind in case plans change. This allows us to keep our prices low and provide the best service possible. Due at the time of registration, Cancellation Protection entitles you to a full refund of camp fees should you cancel your registration more than 14 days prior to the start of an overnight camp, and 7 days prior to the start of a day camp. If you cancel within 14 or 7 days of the start of your session, we will give you a camp credit for all money paid. The credit is valid for three years from camp date at any of our camps. Credit with insurance is transferable to family members or friends, and good toward a future camp.
